This was a collection of songs I wrote mostly from 2017-2020, and is basically a cathartic rant of my anger at the country and its politics during that time. 'Down on Our Knees' is about Black Lives Matter, 'Half' talks about Women's rights, '7309' is about family separation at the border, track 7 and 8 deal with climate change, 'Seperate' was about the pandemic. The rest of the songs are pretty self explanatory, but deal with the themes of those 4 years which unfortunately continue to plague us into the current day. 'Days of Plenty' made a re-appearance from 'Summerschool Lunchbox' just to add a bit of hope.
A lot this album was based on my poetry, which is I guess why the lyrics get pretty 'wordy' at times. In retrospect, these songs sound a bit rough around the edges. But so were those 4 years, so I forgive myself that. I guess for me at least, like a journal, this collection of songs captures what was happening in the moment pretty well. Music, lyrics, and all performances Larry Sansone (except Days of Plenty with Evan Schwartz on Lead guitar). The flute sample in Billboard is from a pageant performance by Sarah Palin.
